Heather is a seasoned versatile storyteller singer-songwriter who performs both traditional and personal stories, bringing them to life through her vibrancy and unique voice. Known for her musical storytelling and songwriting, she tells to all ages and includes chants, original spoken word, verse, poetry, songs, and effectively incorporates props, playing guitar, and having her audience participate wherever possible! Her performances transcend all ages and cultures, and preserve the dignity of the heritage they embody.
Sharing stories behind songs, which are folk and blues based, Heather intrigues both adults and teens, enlightening them to new lyrics and to the history and passion of traditional ballads. She also writes and performs poignant personal memoir stories sprinkled with humour, and was the first “in house” storyteller for Whitby Station Gallery’s Arts infused programming Reading the Image for grades 7&8 during the month of November 2012. Her solo performance pieces A LOAD OFF MY CHEST – WHEN THEY CAME: MY ETHNIC FAMILY IN STORY AND SONG and FOR THE LOVE OF JOHNNY have been seen on stage at places such as Harbourfront Centre and the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto, and Canadian Storytelling Night: Eh Canada? in Orillia, Ontario, and in Buenos Aires.
