Course Description:
The course begins with some interactive personal storytelling but then moves to traditional folktales- clear, simple plot, arresting images, memorable language- as a basis for any kind of storytelling. Participants are asked to choose a traditional story from material supplied by the instructor, and then learn (not memorize) it through a series of enjoyable activities crafted to better connect the teller with their chosen story. The course to better connect the teller with their chosen story. The course ends with everyone telling their story and receiving helpful feedback from their colleagues as well as from the instructor.
About Marylyn Peringer:
Marylyn Peringer has been telling traditional stories in Toronto and across Canada for over 40 years. Within her large repertoire are the tales she is best known for: the oral narratives of French Canada. For many years she has taught introductory courses for Storytelling Toronto and counts many members of Toronto’s storytelling community among her former students.
