Seldom Told

May 12, 2023 from 5:30 pm - 6:50 pm

$10 – $15

This collection of seldom-told stories connects us to ancestral Ghana and Mesopotamia, and leads us to reflect on the strengths of, and injustices against, women historically, presently, and in mythology.

This event will be live-streamed.

Event Program:

Voices of the Ancestors – Gail Nyoka
Seldom-told stories from Ghana: some serious, some humorous, some animal characters have all-too-human foibles, some humans are capable of the unimaginable.

The Descent of Ishtar into the Underworld – Sarah Abusarar
Ishtar, the Mesopotamian Goddess of love, sexuality, and war demands to be let through the gates of the underworld knowing that this is the land of no return. This myth was said to have influenced the well-known Greek myth of “Persephone”.
